Kate Meis
Associate Director
Kate (Wright) Meis has worked with the Local Government Commission (LGC) since 2006. Her work focuses on local strategies to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. She is the Associate Director at the LGC where she is the LGC lead on the Statewide Energy Efficiency Collaborative and assists local governments to develop and implement policies and programs that address climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Mrs. Meis has organized two statewide workshop series, the first on CEQA and AB 32 co-hosted by the Attorney General’s Office, and the second on SB 375 co-hosted by the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research and Senator Darrell Steinberg.
Before coming to the Local Government Commission Mrs. Meis conducted research for the UC Davis Department of Environmental Science and Policy, Transportation Alternatives of Marin, 4-H Center for Youth Development and the University of California Cooperative Extension. She obtained a Masters of Science degree in Community and Regional Development from the University of California, Davis.
