Center Resources
Events
The Center organizes a variety of conferences, workshops, and
training sessions on land use and transportation-related issues.
Bookstore
The Center publishes a monthly newsletter, Livable
Places Update, and has produced a variety of easy-to-read
guidebooks that explore models and tools for improving land use
and transportation planning. The Center also has a useful catalog
of videos, slides and presentations to help introduce and implement
the concepts of transit-and pedestrian-oriented land use planning.
Community Image
Surveys
The Center trains
local agencies and organizations in how to use visual surveys
properly, develops area-specific surveys, and helps communities develop
their own surveys. Sample surveys from will soon be
available for sale through the LGC
Bookstore.
Free
Resources
The Center maintains speakers lists, bibliographies, and an array
of different information -- including studies, reports and model
codes -- on outstanding examples of pedestrian- and transit-oriented
land use planning from across the country. The Center also maintains
a growing collection of articles under 120 subject areas -- from
"Adaptive Re-Use" to "Youth Planning." You can find selected items
in our Free Resources
section.
Ahwahnee Awards
The Center sponsors the Ahwahnee Awards for innovations and excellence
in pedestrian- and transit-oriented land use planning. In previous
years, awards have been given to local agencies, private developers,
and community groups.
