Public Health Track

The Community Design and Public Health "Track"
A special track of sessions was designed for public health professionals interested in understanding the nexus between health and the built environment and to learn about community design strategies that create healthier and safer communities. The track began with two sessions targeted specifically to public health practitioners followed by a third session that brought together public health, planners, transportation professionals and others in a multidisciplinary cross-training forum. Sessions offered on Saturday further assisted public health practitioners to address public health concerns via community design, and provided a forum for developing new nontraditional partnerships to further their goals.

Physicians could earn CME credits for attending the following sessions:

Optional Pre-Conference Sessions - Friday, June 27th:

  • 12:30-3:00pm - Health and the Built Environment: A Primer for Public Health Professionals (2 CME)
  • 2:00-3:00pm - Taking it to the Streets: A Walking Tour for Public Health Professionals (1 CME)
  • 3:00-5:00pm - Livable Communities 101: Making the Multi-Disciplinary Connections (2 CME)

Regular Conference Sessions - Saturday, June 28th:

  • 10:30-12:00pm - Addressing California’s Affordable Housing Challenge (1.5 CME)
  • 10:30-12:00pm - What Can Health Partners Bring to the Table? (1.5 CME)
  • 10:30-12:00pm - Using Smart Growth to Protect & Enhance Water Resources (1.5 CME)
  • 10:30-12:00pm - How to Make Places Walkable: A Case Study (1.5 CME)
  • 1:15-2:30pm - Traffic Safety, Walkability and Safe Routes to Transit (1.25 CME)
  • 1:15-2:30pm - Community Indicators for Livable Communities (1.25 CME)
  • 2:45-4:00pm - Social Equity: Communities Built for Everybody (1.25 CME)

1 hour = 1 CME credit

A total of 5 CME credits can be earned for attending pre-conference sessions. A total of 4 CME credits can be earned for attending regular conference sessions (some sessions run concurrently).

Credits are awarded upon verification of session attendance and the completion of a session evaluation form. Certificates will be sent after conference.
