Designing and Retrofitting Neighborhoods to Improve Safety
Date: Tuesday, August 21, 2007, Sacramento, CA
This day-long workshop addressed ways in which smart growth
strategies called for mixed-use, compact, pedestrian-and bicycle-friendly
neighborhoods with slow, safe streets can help both law enforcement and fire
departments achieve their missions. The program also addressed ways to design or
retrofit neighborhoods to improve safety without impacting response times.
