Taking Control of Our Future

An Historic Opportunity for Local Governments

Dates: September 7-9, 2001
Location: Asilomar Conference Grounds, Monterey, CA

Presented by the Local Government Commission

Rotating blackouts, soaring prices, summer peak-loads - most people see the immediate problems of California's energy crisis. But the bigger issue is how today's energy challenge will affect our communities tomorrow. Energy touches every aspect of a community's quality of life, from housing, transportation, health care and public works to the local economy. The task now facing local elected officials is to create lasting, long-term solutions that keep our communities healthy and vibrant.

At our 22nd annual conference at Asilomar, the Local Government Commission invites city council members, county supervisors, and state officials to explore together actions that can improve the long-term energy future of our communities and our state. To receive more conference information, please call Bismarck Obando at (916) 448-1198 ext. 311.
