5th Annual New Partners for Smart Growth
Building Safe, Healthy and Livable Communities
Dates: January 26-28, 2006
Location: Denver, CO
Sponsored by the Local Government Commission
and Penn State University
This conference was by far the largest, most dynamic event held to date in this series. It certainly lived up to its reputation as the “premier” smart growth event held each year in the U.S. The event was attended by nearly 1,250 people from across the country (and five other countries). The program included over 80 sessions and more than 260 speakers! It also included nine tours of local model projects — most of which sold out prior to the start of the conference.
The program featured cutting-edge smart growth issues, the latest research, implementation tools and strategies, successful case studies, new partners, new projects and new policies. The program qualified for continuing education credits for doctors, nurses, planners (AICP only), architects and landscape architects.
The conference was sponsored by a unique and multi-disciplinary group of 35 different agencies, organizations, foundations, and private firms — at the national, state and regional levels. Additional promotional assistance was provided by an even larger group of conference cosponsors — who helped us get the word out about this important event nationally, regionally and locally — to an unbelievably large and diverse group of constituencies.
All of the conference plenaries, breakouts and workshops were audio-recorded. CDs are available for purchase, and are sold by-the-day or by-the-conference only. To order CDs, visit http://www.softconference.com/260126.
Additionally, the LGC is making available PDF files of nearly all the PowerPoint presentations given at the conference! Visit http://www.cmcgc.com/media/handouts/260126/default.html to access this exciting, comprehensive and FREE resource.
