Building Livable Communities:

Livable Communities Meet the Global Warming Challenge

The Seventeenth Annual Conference for Local Elected Officials
March 13-16, 2008
Yosemite National Park

Intro | Agenda | Speakers | Resources

This Year's Topic

This year's conference looked at how the Ahwahnee Principles for Resource-Efficient Communities are poised to play a key role in implementing AB 32 (California's Global Warming legislation). The agenda included opportunities to learn how Governor Schwarzenegger's Administration and California's Attorney General Jerry Brown plan to move toward the rapid implementation of AB 32 and the key role that local government will need to play.

For the pre-conference session noted developer Will Fleissig was on hand to share his experiences, and teach us how to achieve carbon-neutral development.

Please visit our agenda page for more details about the sessions and to download available presentations.

This year at the conference a process was set in motion by the LGC's Board of Directors to develop a set of guiding principles for local governments to use in response to global warming. A draft set of principles were producted and then distributed for comments to conference attendees. They are still available for review and comments. (see Ahwahnee Principles for Climate Change).
