This extensive web site also features information concerning
Energy Commission projects and activities, publications, news
databases, an energy education tool, and a directory of over
1,000 energy-related internet sites.

The California Public Utilities Commission
regulates the services and rates of more than 25,000 investor-owned
utilities and transportation companies. The web site includes
electric industry restructuring information, consumer information,
and listings of CPUC meetings, agendas, and minutes.

A project of the U.S. Department of
Energy, EERE is an enormous database and search engine on
all aspects of energy efficiency and renewable energy. The
site provides access to a wealth of information about renewable
energy and energy efficient technologies.

Among its numerous resources for cities,
The League has developed an Electricity Restructuring Database
with information on more than 60 cities' electricity-related
franchise fee, utility users tax, business license fee/tax
and other fees or charges that relate to electricity.

(PG&E):

PG&E's web site offers information
on electric industry restructuring and energy efficiency opportunities
and technologies. PG&E Energy Services, an unregulated
PG&E subsidiary whose products include electricity from
renewable energy sources, can also be accessed from this site.

SDG&E's 100 Ways to Save page provides
energy efficiency tips for water heaters, air conditioners,
small appliances and several other household items. The Energy
Arcade page provides energy information and highlights some
of SDG&E's environmental projects. The site also has information
on electric industry restructuring.

SCE's web site provides information
on energy efficiency and various consumer energy issues. For
information on electric industry restructuring and about EarthSource,
an Edison subsidiary offering electricity from renewable energy
sources, users can link to SCE's parent company's web site,
Edison International.

This site provides a weekly update
on electricity restructuring activities at both the state
and federal levels, and links to DOE's Comprehensive Electricity
Competition Plan and the Energy Information Administration's
Electric Industry Restructuring page. The site also includes
a publication, "Retail Electric Competition: A Blueprint for
Consumer Protection," which examines laws and policies that
can protect the consumer in a deregulated environment.

This citizen utility group focuses
on the San Diego area, but its in-depth report on utility
restructuring, including a listing of "questionable and very
questionable service offers" from energy providers, raises
many pertinent issues about electric industry restructuring.

UtilityGuide publishes unbiased, up-to-date
information about the introduction of competition in the electricity
