LGC’s SPIRE Project Ending

Funding for LGC’s Stimulating Public-sector Implementation of Renewable Energy (SPIRE) project ends in early 2003. There are a few important components yet to come: a second fact sheet, and policy and program information on the web.

The second fact sheet will include California local government policies, programs, ordinances and standards that seek to encourage the installation of renewable energy systems. The fact sheet will also include references for the local government examples as well as other resources to help you with your efforts. The fact sheet will be available in hard copy and from our web site.

We also plan to locate on our web site sample policies and ordinances that promote renewable energy locally. We have collected requests for proposals that may help you with the purchase of solar equipment components, turnkey PV systems, and feasibility studies. Look for these additions to the SPIRE web page in February 2003.

We have enjoyed working with so many of you on what for us was a very rewarding project. Although SPIRE funding is ending, we will be still available to provide advice through our Energy Clearinghouse at energyinfo@lgc.org or (800) 290-8202.
