An Energy Newsletter for Local Governments
Local government energy professionals have started meeting on a regular basis to discuss issues they are facing including opportunities and barriers to implementation of programs of interest to their communities. The meetings are an outgrowth of a project of the Local Government Commission to explore the conditions necessary for local governments to develop and implement sustainable energy programs.
In addition to California local government participants, previous meetings attendees include commissioners from the California Energy Commission and Public Utilities Commission, and energy professionals from France, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain.
The meetings, which will move around the state in order to allow for greater participation, have taken place in Sacramento and at the San Diego Regional Energy Office. The next meeting will be hosted by the City of San Jose on February 7th. If you are a local government person working on energy issues, or planning to work on energy issues, and wish to be involved with this network, contact LGCs Pat Stoner at: pstoner@lgc.org.
