Dian Gruenich, a San Francisco attorney, and Steve Poizner, a Silicon Valley businessman, were nominated to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) by Governor Schwarzenegger in December. The two must be confirmed by the state Senate by the end of next year, but will assume their positions on the Commission in January. The nominations have generated positive responses in the business, environmental and consumer arenas.
Gruenich and Poizner will replace Commissioners Loretta Lynch and Carl Wood who were associated most heavily with consumer and environmental protection at the CPUC.
