Forum on Earth Observations II, Feb. 15-16, 2006
Members of the public and private energy sectors are invited to register for the Forum on Earth Observations II, scheduled for Feb. 15-16, 2006, at the Hilton Torrey Pines in La Jolla, CA. The Forum will bring together leaders from industry, academia, nongovernmental organizations and government agencies to address key issues in the planning and implementation of a global Earth observation system. The theme of this year’s Forum is “Managing Risk in the 21st Century.”
In addition to keynote speakers and panel discussions, a total of six roundtable discussions will be convened, with four of them focusing on the needs and interests of four specific sectors: energy, insurance and banking, public health, and water. Participants will discuss how Earth observations are obtained and used in the sector, what improvements should be made, and what business models can be applied to a global Earth observation system to enable an entrepreneurial environment.
Recommendations produced by the roundtables will be forwarded to U.S. and international Earth observation planning entities.
