Webcast: The Benefits of Local Government Adoption of Energy Codes

The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) will host a webcast, The Benefits of Local Government Adoption of Energy Codes, on Wednesday, August 4, 2004, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. EDST. The webcast, which will explain how energy codes fit into the building codes of local governments, is targeted toward local government officials, including managers and administrators and assistant managers, as well as building inspectors, code enforcement officers, and other relevant trades inspection personnel. Registration for the first 100 sites to sign up is free. After that, registration is $100 per site.

The Benefits of Local Government Adoption of Energy Codes will provide an introduction to energy codes and explain how you can: obtain and adopt these codes, understand how the codes fit into other codes used by local government inspection units, apply these codes to save energy and money, take advantage of opportunities (and requirements) for energy codes training, and learn how local governments have applied these codes. The webcast will feature representatives from the Building Codes Assistance Project, local government, and other organizations.

A webcast combines telephone and internet technology to give local government managers and their staffs the opportunity to gain relevant, useful information without travel, at low cost, and through a medium that encourages collegial discussion of concerns and issues. Participants must have a computer with Internet access (56K modem or higher) and a separate telephone line for the audio portion of the webcast.
