Geodynamics Ltd. Begins Drilling Historic “Habanero 1”

These workshops are offered by Ed Hayes, Safetrees, LLC. Ed has over 25 years of experience in tree health and conducted over 90 workshops.

Dates & Locations:

  1. Monday April 19, 2004, Santa Rosa, Mark West Lodge & Gardens, 2520 Mark West Springs Road, 707-528-9378.

Cost: Early Registration to Safetrees by Tuesday April 13, 2004 is $120. Checks and pre-registration much preferred. After April 13th and walk-ins $140. Discount for 4 or more attendees from same company, $100/person when registrations are received together. Cost includes workshop, lunch & breaks, a copy of "Evaluating Tree Defects" field guide, 2nd ed., and 6.5 ISA or Tree Worker CEU's. Check-in begins at 7:30am at Santa Rosa, and Carmichael. Check-in begins at 8:00 am in San Jose. The workshop starts at 8:30am. 

Agenda:

(8:30am-2:30pm) Proactive methods to reduce exposure to and cost of liability, cultural basics, tree defense systems, tree mechanics, uniform stress above and below ground, shear, taper, safety factor, and wind load. VTA, guidelines used to evaluate stem and root decay, arborist safety, treatment, prevention, veteran tree management, failure evaluations, equipment and technique.

(2:30pm-4:30pm) Field exercise, tree evaluations, discussions, and basic and advanced equipment demonstrations. Rain or shine. Beyond the basics - learn how mechanical reliability is related to tree safety reserves. Learn the contribution of stem size and shape to reduce failure potential. Is crown reduction a viable mitigation option according to basic engineering theory? See tree culture from across the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe.
