Ahwahnee Water Principles Workshops

The Local Government Commission (LGC) will be hosting workshops over the next several months to introduce the Ahwahnee Water Principles (AWP) to local governments and water protection groups. The workshops will be held around the state, with the first two in Sacramento and Oakland, and later ones in the north and south Central Valley, the Los Angeles area and Orange County.

Scheduled Upcoming Workshops:

• Linking Water and Land Use in the San Francisco Bay Area
  April 23, 2007 - Oakland, CA
• Linking Water and Land Use in the Upper Sacramento Valley
  April 27, 2007 - Red Bluff, CA

The AWPs address the disconnect between land use decisions and water resources. These workshops will demonstrate how better land use decisions can result in better water quality and supply. Participants will receive a copy of the guidebook, The Ahwahnee Water Principles: a Blueprint for Regional Sustainability. The AWPs, guidebook and fact sheets for elected officials can be downloaded from LGC's water website (water.lgc.org).
