An Energy Newsletter for Local Governments
Build It Green is accepting orders for all Green Building Guidelines. Please review the following and place your orders by March 15th. Orders are being accepted for:
Build It Green has just completed an extensive multi-stakeholder input process to update and revise the Multifamily Green Building Guidelines. Diverse stakeholders including CA state agencies, local governments in Northern & Southern CA, energy and water utilities, multifamily housing developers, city housing and building staff, and green building experts have all played an instrumental role in crafting the next evolution of these important guidelines to define residential green building in CA. The guidelines are tailored to meet the CA climate, building code, and other regulatory conditions while promoting consistency between CA local governments. They are fully compatible with the 2009 Title 24 energy efficiency standards.
The Multifamily Guidelines are the most comprehensive resource available for greening new or existing multifamily structures, including strategies for low-rise, mid-rise, high-rise and mixed-use structures. They are a more technical reference than the single-family guidelines and provide multifamily project managers and architects with enough information to decide whether particular green building measures are appropriate to a specific project. The revised edition includes new or expanded sections on retrofitting existing structures, mixed-used design, climate protection, acoustics and case studies. (256 pages)
In addition to the newly revised Multifamily Green Building Guidelines, we also have available for order our New Home and Home Remodeling Green Building Guidelines, most recently revised in 2007. Please note the New Home Construction Green Building Guidelines will be updated for 2008 – 2011, and will be available at the end of 2008. We will be taking orders for this reprint with this order. The Guidelines are updated on a three-year schedule, congruent with the Title 24 updates.
Build It Green will be aggregating print orders from public agencies throughout CA to achieve significant reductions in printing costs. By ordering larger quantities, we will be able to save your agency money (e.g. as much as $2.00 per guideline book – New Home and Remodeling or $5.00 per Multifamily).
Guideline Customization – Available only with the following Guidelines
Agencies can have up to 2 1⁄2 pages at the beginning of each book for customization with local program and contact information, as well as have their logo on the cover. A customization fee of $500 each will be added to the total order cost. Example documents of both Guidelines and previous customizations are available in PDF format on the Build It Green webpage. We are not offering customization on the 2007 New Home Guidelines reorders, given we are updating them for 2008-2011 and the minimum order for customization is 500 copies.
Cost: (All costs are approximations and will be subject to number of total orders)
Exact cost cannot be determined until all orders have been received because total order quantity will determine unit cost. If there are at least 10,000 copies ordered by agencies throughout CA, then the cost per book will be approximately $2.50.
Due to the size and cost of the Multifamily Guidelines we need to have an idea of our demand prior to placing the order. Preordering these Guidelines will assure you that the quantity you want will be available to you and will help us greatly in our quantity estimate.
Minimum Order:
Non-Customized – no minimum order (available for all Guidelines)
Customized orders – 500 minimum for each customization (2007 Remodeling Guidelines / 2008-2011 New Home Guidelines)
Larger orders must be in increments of 250 for non-customized and 500 for customized items
Deadline:
Order forms must be received by March 15!
Delivery:
Agencies will receive Guidelines by the end of April (2008 – 2011 New Home Guidelines by end of January, 2009)
An invoice will be sent once the final unit cost is determined.
