CEQA & Climate change workshops

Under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), local agencies have a vital role to play in California’s fight against global warming. Through the sum of their individual decisions, they can make a significant contribution toward moving the state away from “business as usual” and toward a low-carbon future.

Many questions have arisen from cities and counties attempting to comply with CEQA. These workshops are intended to address the most common questions:

  1. How do we analyze the CO2 impacts of future development?
  2. What mitigation strategies should we employ?
  3. How can a cash-strapped county of city undertake this analysis without a lot of expense?

Speakers will include Attorney General Jerry Brown and members of his staff, leaders from the Governor’s Climate Action Team, and modeling experts from throughout the state. Some of the best local government climate action plans will be highlighted at the workshops.

Workshop dates and locations:

  • March 20 — Oakland
  • April 3 — Sacramento
  • April 24 — Visalia
  • May 15 — Los Angeles
  • May 23 — Monterrey

Additional information can be found here.

This workshop series is co-hosted by the Local Government Commission and the Office of the California Attorney General.
