Money for Sustainable School Construction in California

The Division of the State Architect in the California Department of General Services has pulled together a compilation of resources and contracts for school districts to contact in the process of greening their schools. The incentive programs are organized in the following areas: energy, water, materials efficiency, siting, green building, landscaping and transportation, and include programs sponsored utilities, local, state and federal governments.

This matrix is available on the DSA web site and includes hyperlinks to the programs listed. You can access the matrix at http://www.dsa.dgs.ca.gov/sustainability/incentives.htm.

The U.S. Department of Energy's Rebuild America program has released design guidelines for energy-efficient schools (see Currents, March/April 2002). They can be accessed at http://www.eren.doe.gov/energysmartschools/.
