An Energy Newsletter for Local Governments
A new web-based discussion service is now available to local governments in California. The Local Government Commission Online Community is an outgrowth of a series of LGC organized networking meetings in 2002 and the current interest in community choice aggregation.
The LGC Online Community is a discussion board for local governments and other interested stakeholders to learn about and participate in key issues affecting their communities. This service is free and open to anyone who creates a profile to participate.
The Online Community is divided into a collection of forums on various issues. Some forums are open to everyone while others are limited to local government participants.
Local government only areas provide private forums where local elected officials, staff and their consultants can freely discuss issues and ideas that are not yet developed well enough to share publicly. You must request permission to access these areas by creating a profile and then contacting the forum owner.
The Online Community is being launched with two forums dicussing Community Choice Aggregation already in place. We will be adding other forums of interest to local governments. Once you have created your participation profile, you may request other forum topics.
We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to communicate with your peers and other interested parties on topics important to you and your communities.
Special thanks go to Fraser Smith of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission and Anne Selting, formerly of SFPUC, for prompting the creation of the Online Community and providing suggestions for its structure.
