An Energy Newsletter for Local Governments
The Local Government Energy Partnership (LGEP) program has been actively signing up participants these past months. To date, the Cities of Millbrae, Pleasanton, San Carlos, and Sebastopol; as well as the County of Monterey, have enrolled in the LGEP program. LGEP has also met with the Cities of Dixon, Livermore, San Ramon, Santa Rosa; the County of Sonoma; and the South County Fire Authority to begin the enrollment process with these local government agencies. These agencies will receive free, customized technical and policy assistance to improve energy efficiency in public facilities and their larger communities. LGEP expects to provide services to 35 agencies by the time the program ends in December 2005.
The program is funded by California energy utility rate payers under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Cities (with populations under 250,000), counties, and special districts in the ABAG and Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG) membership areas are eligible to apply for program services (with the exception of Marin County).
