Pacific Energy Center
The Pacific Energy Center (PEC) offers educational programs, design
tools, advice, and support to create energy efficient buildings
and comfortable indoor environments. Most of PECs efforts
are focused around commercial buildings, however, other departments
offer advice and information for residential buildings.
Services include assistance in:
- Daylighting and shading analysis of physical building models
to optimize envelope design.
- Advice on site orientation, glazing, shading, daylighting,
and electric lighting systems.
- Electric lighting system demonstrations and discussion of
the pros and cons of different approaches to electric lighting
in particular buildings and building types.
- Identifying applicable incentive programs for energy-related
measures, including Savings By Design, Express Efficiency, and
Standard Performance Contract.
- Performance measurement tools for existing building systems
evaluation and efficiency enhancements supported by protocols
for tool use.
For large projects that offer opportunities for significant energy
reductions over normal practice, other services may be available.
These include:
- Optimization studies of HVAC and/or lighting systems.
- Computer modeling of whole building performance or the performance
of specific systems such as HVAC or lighting.
- Trainings for building operators.
PEC offers educational programs each year at its San Francisco
and Stockton locations. The Fall 2004 schedule is available now
at http://www.pge.com/pec/classes/.
