PROJECTS: Stockton Opens Citywide Bike Trail

The City of Stockton celebrated the grand opening of their $1.5 million Calaveras River Bike Path Extension and Pedestrian Bridge Project this past October.

A collaborative project of the City and the San Joaquin Council of Governments with support from San Joaquin County, the extension and the new 320-foot bridge complete a six-mile path that now spans the entire width of Stockton. This major east-west bikeway also intersects five north-south bike lanes and routes and provides bicycle access to schools, employment and commercial centers and recreational facilities while avoiding automobile traffic.

The Calaveras River Bike Path is the top priority project of the Stockton Bikeway Master Plan. The City began building the trail 15 years ago.
