Regional Energy Authority Energy Pilot Projects
This Project is Closed
With public goods charge energy efficiency funding, under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission, the Local Government Commission assisted communities in Humboldt and Ventura counties to establish regional energy offices in 2003. The Redwood Coast Energy Authority (www.redwoodenergy.org) is a Joint Powers Association representing the County of Humboldt and the seven cities within it. The Redwood Coast Energy Information Center serves as a one-stop-shop for energy efficiency information for residential, commercial/industrial, and public agency energy users in Humboldt County.
The Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance (www.vcenergy.org) is a JPA composed of public agencies working in collaboration to approach the availability, reliability, conservation and innovative use of energy resources in the Ventura County region. The current JPA consists of Ventura County and the cities of San Buenaventura, Oxnard, Santa Paula, and Thousand Oaks, the Ventura County Community College District, the Ventura Regional Sanitation District, and the Casitas Municipal Water District.
Both energy offices continue to serve their communities and have secured public goods charge funding through 2008.
