Leif began his role as Statewide Local Government Energy Efficiency Best Practices Coordinator in January 2019.
He has over 20 years of experience with developing, leading, and administering energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives in partnership with local governments, utilities, and regulators.
Over the last decade, Leif led PG&E’s Government & Community Partnerships, managing a diverse portfolio of utility energy efficiency and climate change programs that directly engaged local governments in delivering community-based solutions. Prior to PG&E, he worked at the Local Government Commission for over 11 years managing energy and livable community projects. He is a strong believer in the value of collaboration and is dedicated to fostering strong partnerships across diverse stakeholders.
In his role as Best Practices Coordinator, Leif is utilizing his deep energy efficiency program experience to support the LGC and other partners with catalyzing local energy efficiency and climate action across the state. He is directly assisting local governments with realizing their tremendous potential to leverage energy efficiency and energy policy in general to help California meet its ambitious climate change goals.
Leif holds a B.S. degree in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning from UC Davis and an MBA with a concentration in Public Administration from CSU Sacramento.
