Meredith Thompson is the Water Project Manager for LGC’s Water Program. In addition to supporting all water-focused initiatives within LGC, Meredith coordinates the Disadvantaged Community Involvement Program with The Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority, helping engage and educate local elected officials in the watershed about disadvantaged community issues. Other projects include: conducting regional situation analyses of water management and land use planning in California and developing recommendations for community foundations in California to improve equitable integration of water and land use planning, supporting 20 CivicSpark Water Action Fellows in their water project work, and guiding the participation of severely disadvantaged communities and similar stakeholders in the Groundwater Sustainability Planning effort (GSP) for the Solano GSA.
Prior to joining LGC, Meredith worked with several environmental nonprofits in the Sacramento region, such as the Sacramento Tree Foundation and ReCreate. From 2011-2013 she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Peru working on local water issues – and has worked in many other disadvantaged communities around the world.
Meredith holds a master’s degree in Public Administration and Environmental Policy from the University of Washington, and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Economics from Gonzaga University.
